What have I learned by participating in Hochmah and Musar's Week of Positive Blogging?
I used to think that the Blogosphere was best when it was bomb throwing. The sites that inspired me to launch What Tami Said are the ones that tell it like it is and speak truth to power. I still love those blogs. But this week has shown me that positive posts can be just as engaging and provocative.
As a relatively new blogger, It's easy for me to rely on whatever controversial topic is currently tearing its way through the online grapevine. This week's exercise has forced me to think more creatively and draw from a larger well of post topics.
Lastly, this week confirmed for me what amazing talent, compassion, activism, thoughtfulness, intelligence, passion, spirituality and humor can be found among regular folk expressing themselves online. I'm fired up. For all its foibles, there is tremendous power in the Blogosphere. The "powers that be" should be scared. And they are. This week has made me feel like leading a revolution, which made me think of Billy Bragg's cover of Woody Guthrie's "All You Fascists Are Bound To Lose." Watch an acoustic performance below.
