Old School Friday: Child Singers

It's rough being a child musical act. For every Stephanie Mills, Michael Jackson, Alanis Morissette and Stevie Wonder, there is a Debbie Gibson and Kris Kross. It akes a heap of talent for a kiddie act to advance from novelty to respected adult artist.

Unfortunately, adult fame was not to be for Musical Youth, the British-Jamaican pop/reggae band that hit the U.S. charts with "Pass the Dutchie" in 1982. Nevertheless, this song never fails to make me smile.

Good one--they were one of the first to come to my mind as well!

Musical Youth's popular this Friday. Great pick because I could, and have in the past, listen to that song several times in a row just trying to figure out what they're saying. Happy OSF! Cute kids.

When I was a boy growing up in Trinidad & Tobago I used to have dreams of growing up to be them.

I LOVED this group/song when it came out in the 80s! Thanks for helping me trip down memory lane Tami!
