Since I started this week with a fabulous Ray LaMontagne concert, I thought I'd make the mysterious troubadour the focus of Music Thursday. If you're unfamiliar, LaMontagne is an alternative folkie with a raspy voice, packed with emotion. He is also notoriously shy--sometimes performing concerts in the dark or with his back to the audience. The most banter we received during the concert was mumbled "thank yous" between songs. LaMontagne reportedly lives in New England with his family on a secluded farm with no running water or electricity.
Interesting back story aside, the music is the thing. And LaMontagne makes amazing music with a hint of blues and American roots style. Here are some of my favorites:
"Trouble" (This is one of favorite LaMontagne songs. If only I didn't associate it with insurance now.)
"You Are The Best Thing"
"Like Rock And Roll And Radio" (on stage with KT Tunstall and David Gray)
